TREND: ALL-OVER PRINTS

Spring 2015 Menswear

One of the biggest trends I observed at the Spring 2015 menswear runways was the use of head-to-toe prints. Bold prints were fashioned for tops and bottoms.  Maybe minimalism is dead (for now). Once only see in womenswear, these designers took a leap at what the future may hold.

TREND: PATTERN MIX

Spring 2015 Menswear

Minimalism is dead with these pattern mixes seen on the Spring 2015 menswear runway.  Plaids with florals, plaids with checker board, florals with chevrons, and floral on floral are just some of the different combinations seen here.  There are no rules to this mash-up.

TREND: PATTERNED COATS

Spring 2015 Menswear

Coats are usually fashioned with solid colored fabric for menswear.  I’ve been observing more each year a trend to show bold prints or patterns to this basic of a wardrobe.  Here are some examples of what was shown at the Spring 2014 menswear runways.

TREND: BOLD SUITS

Spring 2015 Menswear

I think one of the things every menswear designer contemplates is updating the traditional suit. “What can be done to make it look new?”  I’ve been observing the suit to be taken as a palette to print, pattern, or piece all over.  These are some I found on the Spring 2015 menswear runways.

TREND: SATIN

Spring 2015 Menswear

There is an ease to this soft satin clothing seen at the Spring 2015 menswear runways shows. Haider Ackermann has been a proponent of this fabric since he started his collection.  They have an almost pajama-like look to them; comfortable and rumpled as though you just rolled out of bed.

TREND: GRAPHICS

Spring 2015 Menswear

Graphics are a social statement.  Like a billboard, they call for your attention.  The Spring 2015 menswear runway had their fair share of them.  Sometimes they were seen as cute cartoon-like figures, figurative illustrations, landscapes, or photographic prints.

TRENDS: BRIGHT BLOCKING

Spring 2015 Menswear

Alongside a hot pink trend were some bright color blocking seen on the Spring 2015 runway shows.  it’s a fresh way to take standard menswear design and give it an edge.
