Fall 2016 RTW: Fur
PETA’s influence on the fashion establishment paled this fall with the abundance of fur seen on the runway. Animal printed furs, shearlings, mink, fox, as well as faux furries were all represented.

Not since the 80’s have we seen such a surge of the big shoulder. It’s not about “power dressing” this time around. It’s all about the silhouette and a means to give new shape to this generation.
A bohemian mood was seen with many collections for Fall 2016 RTW. Long flowing dresses with ruffles, floral prints, and pattern mixes give a laid-back ease to this kind of dressing.
The biggest trend in men’s jackets witnessed on the Fall 2015 runways was “The Bomber”. The bomber or flight jacket has been around for almost one hundred years. This military inspired piece of wardrobe continues to be reinterpreted in many shapes and fabrics. The knit cuffs and waistbands are a common thread but the silhouette can be seen short to long. Fabrications are the real differentiator here. Bombers were seen in fur, satin, knit, camouflage, plaids, leather, velvet, pinstripes, quilted, prints, metallic, sequins, nylon, and wool. It’s a classic mens wardrobe piece that these thirty-six designers continue to design for the 21st century.
