Fall 2016 RTW: Shoulders

Not since the 80’s have we seen such a surge of the big shoulder.  It’s not about “power dressing” this time around. It’s all about the silhouette and a means to give new shape to this generation.

Fall 2016 RTW Trends: 3D

I love these sculptural pieces shown on the runway for Fall 2016 RTW.  Some are actually 3D printed (Iris van Herpen) while others create the effect with volume sewn into the fabric or using an origami pleating (Junya Watanabe, Comme des Garçon, and Noir Kei Ninomiya).

Trend: Red, White & Blue

Spring 2016 RTW

Red, white, and blue was used in many collections for Spring 2016.  Marc Jacobs did a complete collection in the trio of colors. While these looks may not be a homage to patriotism, they are a fresh take on a classic combo.

Trend: Sparkle

Spring 2016 RTW

Women will sparkle in these designs for Spring 2016.  Colorful sequins and palettes were used to fabricate dresses, skirts, shorts and tops.  The shimmering effect is one to turn heads.

Trend: Mod

Spring 2016 RTW

The 60’s “Mod” look could be seen interpreted in these designs for Spring 2016 RTW.  Mini skirts or shifts, plastic-like fabrications, and op-art patterns all add to the look.

Trend: Mesh

Spring 2016 RTW

Mesh overlays create transparent shapes over these designs for Spring 2016. With so much sheer fabrics and lace seen on the runways, these styles reveal another shape beneath them to create the illusion of more with less.
